Planetary Health & Health Equity

At SEFNep, we recognize that human health is inextricably linked to the health of our environment. Our Planetary Health division focuses on the localized impacts of global climate change within Nepal, critically investigating the climate and health nexus. We conduct rigorous field research to understand how shifting weather patterns, environmental health hazards, indoor air pollution, and heat stress affect vulnerable populations.

Beyond direct environmental impacts, this research area evaluates the vulnerabilities of resource-constrained systems to build health system resilience. We critically examine the “brain drain” phenomenon and the lived realities of health workforce migration. By working directly with health workers and policymakers,SEFNep designs and advocates for adaptive strategies that ensure ethical healthcare delivery. Our ultimate goal is to provide ethical frameworks that protect the health workforce, promote health equity and access, and champion intergenerational health equity at the societal level.
